Rajnath seeks people's support

Pondicherry, Mar 19 (UNI) BJP President Rajnath Singh today exhorted the people in the Union Territory to vote his party to power in the coming Assembly Election to make Pondicherry a developed state.

Addressing a party workers' meeting here, Mr Singh claimed that the BJP was the only alternative to the Congress now.

He said out of the three national parties, Congress, BJP and the Communist party, only BJP was undivided. There was a misconception that BJP was confined only to North India. But the party was now marching towards South and was already in the government in Karnataka.

Mr Singh said while the NDA government led by Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee had worked hard for the development of the country, especially the villages, the Congress-led UPA government was for the rich.

The rise in the price of petroleum products alone would add to the suffering of the poor and the middle class under this government, he said.

The BJP was the only party which could take care of the reputation of the country in the world arena, he claimed.

Referring to the quitting of the lone BJP legialtor A M Krishnamurty to join the AIADMK, he said it was for political advantage. The party would not be affected in any way as it did not depend on an individual.

BJP All India Vice-President L Ganesan, party functionaries in charge of Pondicherry S Thirunavukkarasar and Mrs.Lalitha Kumaramangalam, and Pondicherry unit president R Kesavalu also addressed the workers.
