Police consulting astrologers to eliminate notorious bandit

Mahoba, Mar 19 (UNI) Unable to nail a notorious outlawED bandit, active in Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh, the police department 'armed' with his horoscope is now consulting local astrologers.

Police is seeking the help of astrologers to ascertain and forecast the exact time of the bandit's death, so that he could be eliminated in an encounter.

Outlawed Panchhu's name spells terror in this one of the most backward UP districts. He carries a bounty of Rs 20,000 on his head.

Although his gang, comprising 18 men, execute murder, loot and dacoities on a daily basis, the district police has been unable to trace his whereabouts.

The bandit's reign of terror extends from UP to Madhya Pradesh in the Bundelkhand region.

Police sources said Panchhu's luck favours him strongly. He has escaped unscathed from several police encounters.

According to sources, many times the policemens' weapons got jammed during encounters, enabling him to slip away miraculously.

The astrologers have 'forecast' that Panchhu's lady luck would continue to favour him till June this year.

His original name is Panch Lodhi and he hails from Soopa village under Charkhari area of Mahoba, sources added.

The bandit has more than 50 cases of heinous crimes registered against him.

Meanwhile, police and PAC jawans continued their combing operations in an effort to trap Panchhu.
