Pakistan bowl out Sri Lanka for 130

COLOMBO, Mar 19 (Reuters) Pakistan bowled out Sri Lanka for a paltry 130 in the second one-day international of a three-match series today.

Pakistan's quick bowlers capitalised on a substandard pitch after winning the toss, bowling out the Sri Lankans in 44.2 overs.

The wickets were shared around with Rao Iftikhar (2-14), Abdul Razzaq (2-19) and Shahid Afridi (2-28) taking two each and Naveed ul Hasan finishing with 3 for 23 from 6.2 overs.

Middle order batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan top-scored for the hosts with a fine 48 not out from 75 balls, saving Sri Lanka from major embarrassment after they had slumped to 56 for seven in the 21st over.

Sri Lanka's problems started early as makeshift opener Chamara Kapugedera, drafted in because skipper Marvan Atapattu has been ruled out for six weeks with a back injury, was caught off a leading edge in the third over.

Kumar Sangakkara (one), Sri Lanka's leading batsman, was then adjudged lbw off Mohammad Asif despite the ball pitching outside his leg stump.

FLURRY OF WICKETS Sri Lanka were left reeling on 16 for three when stand-in captain Mahela Jayawardene (nought) edged an outswinger from Naveed ul Hasan and was caught at the wicket.

Upul Tharanga (20) and Russel Arnold (16) briefly resuscitated the innings with a 23-run stand before the introduction of change bowlers Rao Iftikhar and Adbul Razzaq prompted another flurry of wickets.

Tharanga was pinned lbw by a delivery that kept low and Arnold dragged a full-length delivery into his stumps.

Dilshan and tailender Nuwan Kulasekera (11) halted the slump with a 42-run stand for the eighth wicket before Kulasekera was trapped lbw by a quick leg break from Afridi.

Pakistan were further frustrated by a 25-run partnership between Lasith Malinga (15) and Dilshan before Inzamam ul Haq belatedly called back his pace bowlers and wrapped up the innings.

The first match in the series was washed out on Friday night after a torrential downpour midway through the match.
