Media irked by Rio's anti-media remarks
Kohima, Mar 19 (UNI) The media fraternity of Kohima has taken strong objection to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio's remark and said it was an attempt to muscle the fourth estate in a dictatorial attitude, which has no place in a democratic set up.
In a meeting held here by the Kohima Press Club has expressed its extreme displeasure to the remarks made by the Chief Minister against the fourth estate.
The Chief Minister in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly floor on Friday last had told the house not to believe media reports when a member of the opposition bench referred to a newspaper report.
The meeting pointed out that if the Chief Minister continues with his anti-media remarks, the media fraternity in the state would be compelled to defend its sacred profession and resort to its own course of action, according to a release signed by the members of press fraternity.
