Jammat-e-Islami seeks interest-free loans from Qatar Islamic Bank
Dubai, Mar 19 (UNI) Chief of India's Jamaat-e-Islami Dr Abdul Haq Ansari is seeking the approval of Qatar Islamic Bank to open its branch in India to provide interest-free loans He said the Jamaat has been campaigning for establishing interest-free banks in India since it considers interest a major economic evil, press reports said.
The Jamaat is already running a network of lending societies in various parts of the country, giving interest-free loans to ordinary people.
Mr Ansari said millions of rupees are lying with Indian banks in the form of interest on deposits, most of which belong to the Muslims since Islam has banned usury.
