Hurriyat concerned over the plight of Kashmiri detenues
Srinagar, Mar 19 (UNI) The All Parties Kashmir Hurriyat Conference (Omar) has expressed concern over the continued detention of Kashmiri youths in different jails and interrogation centres without any trial.
A spokesman of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) alleged that the Government claim about the release of detenues from jails was misleading and false.
He said thousands of Kashmiri youths are languishing in different jails within and outside the state for years without proper trail.
Even after the court orders, the detenues are not being released, he said, adding that majority of the detenues had been re-arrested after their release.
Expressing serious concern over the plight of the detainees, he demanded their immediate release.
He alleged that detenues were being deprived of all basic facilities including medical care.
The spokesman appealed to the Human Rights organisations and the world community to take serious note of these rights violations and exert pressure on the government to release the Kashmiri youths booked under false charges.
The HC had not attended the Round Table Conference convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at New Delhi last month on the Kashmir issue.
The HC has held three rounds of talks with the Centre on the Kashmir issue in the past.
The Centre had assured the HC during these meetings that all detenues, not facing any serious charges, would be released and Human Rights violations stopped.
