Shimla, Mar 19 (UNI) The Land Records Computerisation Project in Himachal Pradesh, called Him Bhoomi, has entered the final round of the prestigious Stockholm Challenge 2006, State Information Technology Department Secretary Sanjeev Gupta said today.

The Stockholm Challenge launched in 1995 comprises of the most coveted awards in the field of Information and Communication Technology anywhere in the world.

The project was selected from among 1,150 entries received from world over and by an internationally renowned group of experts after a three-stage scrutiny process, Mr Gupta said, in an official release here.

''Him Bhoomi was not only the computerisation of Land Records and but has been acknowledged as the most comprehensive software in this category,'' Mr Gupta said.

He said this software included a pedigree table and a unique code for every person appearing in the record.

The record was also linked to census codification, he said, adding that a family tree of more than even five hundred years can be generated from this software.

The IT Secretary said the software also facilitates online mutation entry and thus a new Jamabandi can now be generated instantaneously, besides a complete MIS encompassing Minor Irrigation census, Agriculture Census, Village Directory, Customary rights and Forestry Rights.

The software has been developed by the Himachal Pradesh unit of the National Informatics Centre and has been implemented in nearly 70 tehsils and sub-tehsils with the combined efforts of IT Department, Revenue Department and Deputy Commissioners, he said.
