Five-day budget session of Goa Legislative Assembly from tomorrow
Panaji, Mar 19 (UNI) Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane will present a ''vote-on-account'' budget on March 22 with the five day session of the Goa Legislative Assembly beginning tomorrow amid tight security at its modern Porvirim complex.
There may be a formal short discussion on the Budget before it is put to vote. Some bills are also expected to come up for discussion from tomorrow and day after, according to the new legislature secretary T N Dhruva Kumar.
The session, second in the year, is likely to witness fireworks from the opposition BJP which squarely blamed the coalition government for its failures to check vandalism, loot and arson in recent riots against minorities at Sanvordem and Curchorem.
In fact, opposition leader Manohar Parrikar has sought resignation the chief minister's resignation for his alleged ''failure on all fronts.'' The opposition was planning to put the government on the mat during the short session even as the treasury benches were prepared to counter it by alleging the BJP's hand behind vandalism.
Meanwhile, the authorities had promulgated prohibitory orders under section 144 criminal Procedure court (Cr P C) banning Assembly of five or more people, with or without arms and lathis and even holding unauthorised processions in the vicinity of the state Assembly during the five days.
