First Islamic university to start functioning in Kashmir soon

Srinagar, Mar 19 (UNI) The first Islamic University will start functioning in south Kashmir soon, an official spokesman said today.

He said this information was given to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad during a meeting which was also attended by prominent members of the Wakaf Board.

Mr Azad was informed that the first Islamic University coming up at Awantipora in Pulwama district of South Kashmir under the Wakf Board will start functioning soon.

The meeting was also informed that the revenue of Board has increased from Rs 8 crore in the year 2002 to Rs 12.4 crore in the year 2005-06.

The meeting was told that the Board has taken all appropriate measures make the functioning transparent.

The chief minister was informed that security forces have vacated the Wakf property at Gulmarg hotel at Boulevard on the bank of famed Dal Lake.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister advised that Board should prepare comprehensive project reports about all the properties of the Wakf board in the state.
