Efforts on to facilitate efficient justice delivery system: Modi

Anand, Mar 19 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said efforts are on by the state government to facilitate an efficient justice delivery system and reduce the number of pending cases.

He said by way of facilities, district courts in Gujarat are much better equipped than even High Courts in some states.

He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a new district court complex on the outskirts of Anand city. The complex was built at a cost Rs 7.15 lakh.

Speaking on the occasion, state Law Minister Ashok Bhatt said there are 53 lakh Lok adalats in the state, which are trying about 25 lakh cases.

He said Gujarat will also be the first state to have evening courts, first of which will come up in Vadodara.

He also said to expedite the justice delivery system, all the courts in the state will be computerised by the year 2007.

Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court Bhawani Singh, who will be retiring shortly, was also present on the occasion.
