Kohima, Mar 19(UNI) Nagaland Chief Minister said the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) is a facilitator to the ongoing peace process working for a political settlement and permanent peace in the state.

This is for the first time that ruling and opposition party leaders of the house shared the floor of the House demanding for a peaceful atmosphere in the state.

Replying to the discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address in the floor of the House last evening, Mr Rio admitted that violence remained unabetted in the state for the past five decades.

Pleading helplessness, he said ''for the last five decades the fratricidal killings are continuing and nobody could stop it." But, at the same time he expressed optimism that ''good sense will prevail and this madness will stop." He, however, claimed that the law and order in Nagaland was now better with the help of police and para-military forces.

He appreciated the ruling UPA government under the leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh, who entrusted a ministerial team to negotiate with the Naga leader to find out a solution to the vexed Naga political problem.

He also assured the House that his government has taken up the matter of issuing Inner Line Permit (ILP), a permission letter to enter Nagaland, which was issued by some underground and students organizations, which is seriously noted by the government and stated that the people will be relieved from the menace soon.

The house also adopted the supplementary deamnds for grants for 2005-2006 by voice vote before adjourning the house till Monday.
