CPM begins 'padayatra'

Vijayawada, Mar 19: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) began 'padayatras' from various places in the city as part of its ten -day campaign to mount pressure on the government to issue ration cards, house sites and pattas to the poor.

CPM City Secretary R Raghu who inaugurated the 'padayatra' in Krishnalanka area said the Congress Government had not fulfilled its promises made during elections.

Mr Raghu said the focus of the agitation was on highlighting the problems faced by the poor and the failure of the government to implement election promises.

The Congress Government agreed to regularise encroached lands, but failed to do so,he charged.
