CPI(M) State Secretary Anil Biswas suffers cerebral attack

Kolkata, Mar 19 (UNI) CPI(M) Secretary in West Bengal and the party's Polit Bureau member Anil Biswas was admitted to a city nursing home last night after suffering a massive cerebral attack at his South Kolkata residence.

Soon after he suffered the attack at around 2200 hrs, Mr Biswas was rushed to the nursing home and was immediately operated upon by a team of doctors.

His condition is reported to be critical. Incidentally, Mr Biswas who was to leave for Malda on a pre-scheduled poll campaign of the party. He suffered the attack when he was about to leave his residence to catch the train.

However, earlier in the day Mr Biswas presided over the CPI(M) state committee meeting and even held his usual media briefing in the evening without any apparent sign of ill health.

As the news of Mr Biswas's admission to the nursing home spread, several senior party leaders, including Left Front Chairman Biman Bose, State Health Minister Surjya Kanta Mishra, Industries Minister Nirupam Sen rushed to the nursing home to enquire about his health.

A large number of party supporters also gathered in front of the nursing home to know the condition of Mr Biswas.
