Azad calls for maintenance of holy places
Jammu, Mar 19 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has urged the Wakaf Board to take appropriate steps to ensure maintenance of shrines of saints, sufis and other holy places.
While addressing Board members here yesterday, Mr Azad asked them to prepare a comprehensive project report on all the properties and take appropriate steps for their utilisation.
''The real meaning of Wakaf is to dedicate themselves for the cause,'' he added.
Mr Azad also instructed the divisional commissioner of the state to identify various shrines on the basis of their historical and religious importance for maintenance. The Board members should gear up to ensure best arrangements for Dargah Hazratbal shrine in view of the coming Mehraj-ul-Alam next month, he added.
The Board assured the CM that neccessary steps had been taken to ensure transparent functioning of the Wakaf Board.
