Afghan boy sentenced to one month imprisonment

Faridkot, Mar 19 (UNI) The Faridkot Juvenile Court has sentenced a 15-year-old Afghan boy to one month imprisonment on charges of crossing over into Indian territory without valid passport and visa.

Saleem Khan, a resident of Gardish in Gazani disrict of Afghanistan was caught by the Border Security Force on February 9 in Gharinda sector of Amritsar district.

Security forces on search recovered Rs 1,400 in counterfeit currency. A case was registered against him under Passport Act.

Later, he was sent to the juvenile protection home at Faridkot.

Saleem pleaded guilty before the Juvenile Justice Board, who handed him over to Hoshiarpur community home with directions to initiate proceedings for his repatriation after completion of his jail term.
