Advani writes to Patil on Shahnawaz threat call

New Delhi, Mar 19 (UNI) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani has written a letter to Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil seeking a probe into the alleged threat call to former Civil Aviation Minister Shahnawaz Hussain from the Chhota Shakeel gang.

Mr Advani, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has also demanded upgraded security for Mr Hussain, his party colleague.

According to Mr Advani, Mr Hussain received a call from a person who identified himself as a member of the Chhota Shakeel gang and threatened all BJP leaders with ''dire consequences'' in the coming days.

''Keeping in view the seriousness of the matter, it is requested that the incident may be inquired and appropriate action is taken,'' Mr Advani wrote in the letter.

Necessary security should be provided to Mr Hussain to avoid any untoward incident, he added.

Mr Hussain, a national secretary of the BJP, was in Patna when he received the threat call on March 8.
