Advani blames UPA of minority appeasement
New Delhi, Mar 19 (UNI) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani today blamed the UPA government of indulging in a minority appeasement policy at the cost of national interests.
Mr Advani, who has announced a 'National Integration Yatra' from next month to create awareness against minority appeasement, said such a policy was not only harmful to the nation but to the minorities as well.
''If somebody wants to appease the minorities, they want to hide something,'' he said while speaking at a national seminar on minority rights.
The decision to undertake the yatra was forced on him by eight decisions of the UPA government, including the appointment of the Justice Sachar Committee, which undertook a headcount of Muslims in the Army, he added.
''I took the decision to go on a yatra after consulting my party colleagues,'' he added.
Appeasement of minorities, he said, was a ''political crime''.
