UP to perk up exports via 13 new economic zones
Moradabad, Mar 18 (UNI) Union minister of state for commerce and industry Jairam Ramesh today announced the formation of 13 new economic zones in Uttar Pradesh, to perk up export growth.
Interacting with newspersons after participating in a seminar here Mr Ramesh said that the zones will be functional by May next year and added that such steps will triple the coutry's export within five years.
Mr Ramesh further claimed that the handicraft export in the country had doubled to Rs 13,000 crore during the last five years.
Moradabad alone contributed exports worth Rs 2,500 crore to this figure.
He also stressed on the need for better infrastructure facilities in Uttar Pradesh for boosting exports.
