UP cop arrested for trying to implicate relative in false case

New Delhi, Mar 18 (UNI) Delhi Police today arrested a Uttar Pradesh Police constable from Ghaziabad for allegedly conspiring to implicate his distant relative in a false gang rape case.

Constable Ram Kumar was arrested for allegedly trying to 'nail' Vinod in a false gang rape case because Vinod had lodged a case against Kumar some time back, police said.

Kumar allegedly gave Rs 3,000 to a 26-year-old married women from Ghaziabad, who told the police that Vinod along with two others Suresh and Bhram had raped her in a moving car late last night.

The woman had been 'found' in a semi-conscious state from a wooded area near Yamuna Khadar in North East Delhi at 1045 hrs yesterday.

Her medical examination did not confirm any violent sexual assault and the police also found that two of the three men were at home at the time of the incident.

When the woman was accosted with the facts, she broke down and spilled the beans.

A case had been registered and more arrests, including that of the woman, were expected.
