Tibetans cast ballots at Sarnath to elect new government in exile
Varanasi, Mar 18 (UNI) As many as 300 Tibetan students and monks living in this holy city today cast their ballots to elect the ''new Tibetan government in exile.'' The electoral exercise was held at Sarnath, the place where Buddha delivered his first sermons, 'returning officer' Tenzing Dose said here.
Mr Dose said the elections were also held today in other parts of the country.
The Prime Minister of the present Tibetan government in exile S Rinpoche is the former director of the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies in Sarnath and is presently living in Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, Mr Dose added.
