Sophisticated firearms seized, 9 arrested

Muzaffarpur, Bihar, Mar 18 (UNI) Sophisticated firearms were seized from the possession of nine criminals, including two sharp shooters of the RJD MP Mohammed Shahabuddin at Ramdayalu Nagar Mohalla under Town police station here today.

Police superintendent Ratna Sanjay said the raid was conducted following a tip that some anti-socials were planning to loot a huge amount from a businessman, who was scheduled to go to Patna.

He said that the seized firearms included one .38 mm revolver, one .9mm pistol. and 7.6mm revolver. ''These fire arms were highly sophisticated and was generally used by military and paramilitary forces,'' he said.

Five country made pistols and 99 live cartridges were also recovered from the spot during the search operation.

Mr Sanjay said sharp shooters of incarcerated RJD MP were identified as Rajesh Pandey and Charan Singh.

The nabbed anti-socials were members of a inter state gang responsible for criminal activities in its area of influence, the SP added.
