Retired Naval Officer arrested for raping maid servant

Chennai, Mar 18 (UNI) A retired Naval officer was arrested here today for allegedly raping his maid servant at Thousand Lights area in the city.

Police said Sabir Ali (45), now working as a Deputy General Manager in a private firm, had committed the crime yesterday and threatened the maid servant of dire consequences, if she reported the incident to anyone.

But the 23-year-old maid, complained to Mr Sabir's wife, who admitted her to a Government Hospital. Medical tests revealed that she was raped.

Acting on a complaint from his wife, police made the arrest. Mr Sabir was remanded in judicial custody.
