Patience is key to my success today: Strauss

Mumbai, Mar 18 (UNI) England opener Andrew Strauss today said that it was a good feeling to score runs in the sub-continent.

Strauss, whose century put England in command on the first day of the final Test, said he had been having a rough patch on the sub-continent wickets and therefore it was heartening to score a century here and also help the team to a good position.

The left-handed opener who made 128, was speaking to the media after the day's play.

He also said that the toss did not make any difference, as they had already decided to bat first on this wicket.

He attributed today's success to his patience and said it was an real honour to make a century here and show the cricket-loving fans here how well they could also play the game.

Strauss, however, said tomorrow would also be crucial as towards the close of the play today there was bounce and with the new ball tomorrow, India would be looking to make early inroads.

Flintoff and Collingwood will have to negotiate and negate the new ball on the morrow.

''We are happy with today's performance and are looking to keep up the good work to be able to exert pressure on India,'' he added.
