PAC pulls up sports department for fund misuse

Imphal, Mar 18 (UNI) The Public Accounts Committee(PAC) of the Manipur legislative assembly has lambasted the state sports department for alleged misuse of public funds.

The PAC laid the report in the assembly yesterday and reported that the department submitted an incorrect utilisation certificate regarding purchase of sports equipment.

The department showed that Rs 80 lakhs were used against Rs 60 lakhs sanctioned and the department also wrongly stated that 12 bicycles were purchased when only six were found by the PAC members.

The report further said the sports department officials were questioned on the matter and the department asked for the proper use of the unused money.
