No contest in Gujarat: All four candidates to be declared elected
Ahmedabad, Mar 18 (UNI) There will be no contest in Gujarat and former Union Minister Arun Jaitley and three others will get elected to the Rajya Sabha unopposed, as only four nomination papers were filed for as many seats from the State.
Apart from Mr Jaitley, the BJP fielded two new faces--former Gujarat Minister Kanchibhai Patel and State Tourism Corporation chairman Vijay Rupani-- for the posts.
The Congress has opted for former Lok Sabha MP Pravin Rashtrapal in place of outgoing MP Raju Parmar.
A scrutiny by Returning Officer D M Patel found all papers in place, said an election office spokesman.
The results will be declared on March 28.
