More twenty gastro patients admitted to G T hospital

Mumbai, Mar 18 (UNI) Twenty more people with symptoms of gastroenteritis were admitted to the government-run G T Hospital today.

Hospital Superintendent Dr H H Jadhav said 20 new patients were admitted today till 1700 hrs, taking the total number hospitalised to 156. However, 50 of them were discharged today and 30 others yesterday.

The condition of all the admitted patients is stated to be stable, he added.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) spokeperson Dadasaheb Shivjatak said the situtation was under control. The BMC medical team has examined 185,000 people from A, B and C wards as a precautionary measure.

Mr Shivjatak said blood samples of patients that were taken yesterday for laboratory test of 'cholera' disease has tested negative.

BMC Commissioner Johny Joseph has directed the officials to change all drinking water pipe lines of affected areas, added the spokesperson.

Two youth died due to gastro on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The patients admitted to the hospitals are primarily from Crawford market, Municipal chawl, Bengalipura and Sabu Siddique road in A, B, and C wards of the municipal corporation in south Mumbai.
