MLA surrenders before court in poll-related case

Pondicherry, Mar 18 (UNI) Malladi Krishna Rao, independent MLA from Yanam, has surrendered before a court here and obtained bail in an election related case.

According to reports reaching administrative headquarters here today, Mr Rao had convened at Yanam early this month and reportedly lambasted the Congress and the BJP.

The Congress party videographed the meeting, recorded his speech and registered a complaint with the Election Department that Mr Rao's speech was provocative and instigated violence.

The Election Department directed the police to initiate action, following which cases under non-bailable sections were registered against the legislator. Mr Rao obtained bail yesterday.
