Mehbooba reiterates self-rule concept

Jammu, Mar 18 (UNI) Reiterating People's Democratic Party's (PDP) stand on the concept of self-rule, the party president Mehbooba Mufti said it accommodates all aspirations, religions and regions of Jammu and Kashmir.

''The misconceptions created in the minds of the people in certain quarters regarding the party's stand have started evaporating and after having realised its real benefits the idea is getting wider acceptance in all the regions of the state,'' Ms Mehbooba said, while addressing a public meeting at Doongi in Rojouri district.

She also expressed satisfaction over confidence building measures (CBMs) by virtue of dialogue process between India and Pakistan.

''The party strongly supports Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's prescription that we should confront the Kashmir issue with open mind and good faith and try to find innovative and 'out of the box' solutions instead of sticking to the hackneyed and worn out slogans,'' she said.

She further said, it is the outcome of sincere and strenuous efforts put in by the coalition government.

The government has also accorded priority for the timely completion of Mughal Road, she added.
