Man arrested for hunting birds
Mysore, Mar 18 (UNI) Forest officials have nabbed a bird hunter near the world famous Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary and seized sericulture nets and other equipment from him.
In a release here today, Conservsator of Forests, Mysore Division, G N Srikantham said the arrested, Nagesh, hailing from Sira taluk in Tumkur district, was caught red-handed by the officials when he was spreading nets to trap the birds at Belavatha village in Mandya district.
The court here today remanded him in police custody till March 29.
The forest officials were also investigating into complaints that some culprits were involved in hunting down migratory birds.
It may be recalled that some migratory birds were found injured near the Sanctuary recently.
