Jaya wraps up seat sharing agreement with allies in Pondy

Chennai, Mar 18 (UNI) The AIADMK today announced wrapping up of seat sharing agreement for the May eight assembly polls in the Union territory of Pondicherry, by identifying the constituences allotted to its allies.

As agreed upon, the AIADMK would contest 16 of the 30 seats in the Union territory and had allotted ten seats to the Pudhucherry Makkal Congress (PMC) and two each to the Marumalarchi DMK (MDMK) and the Dalit Panthers of India (DPI).

In a statement here, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa announced the constituencies from where the party and its allies would seek election.

Following are the constituencies in which the AIADMK would contest from the Union territory: Muthialpet, Ouppalam, Orleanpet, Nellithoppu, Mannadipet, Usudu (Reserved), Uzhavarkarai, Thattanchavady, Reddiyarpalayam, Lawspet, Kottucherry, Niravi, Thirupattinam, Mahe, Pallur and Yanam.

She said the PMC would contest from Kasukkadai, Rajbhavan, Bussy, Mudaliarpet, Ariyankuppam, Netappakam, Kuruvinatham, Bahour (Reserved), Villiayanoor and Karaikal (South).

While the MDMK would seek election from Thirubhuvanai (Reserved) and Thirunallar, the DPI would contest from the Reserved constituentcies of Embalam and Nedungadu.

Ms Jayalalithaa said the seats were identified after detailed discussions with the electoral committees of the AIADMK and its alliance partners.

The AIADMK has thus taken the lead by identifying the constituencies. The DMK-Congress alliance which has completed the seat-sharing talks, is yet to announce the constituencies.
