India swimmers continue to sink in the pool

Melbourne, Mar 18 (UNI) Indians swimmers continued with their dismal showing and brought up the rear in the 200m backstroke heats on the third day of the swimming competition at the Commonwealth Games here today.

Both Arjun Murlidharan and Rehan Poncha failed to qualify in men's 200m backstroke heats.

In the first heat, in the field of seven swimmers, Arjun finished with a time of 2:11.23 which was won by Canada's Desmond Strelzow who clocked 2:02.58.

In the second heat, Rehan Poncha finished seventh amongst the eight swimmers. The Indian timed 2:12.33. This heat was led by Scotland's Gregor Tait.
