Illicit firearms syndicate busted; Four arrested

Agra, Mar 18 (UNI) Police busted an illict weapons syndicate in the Taj city and arrested four people possessing two pistols and a revolver.

Superintendent of Police Gulab Singh told newspersons here, acting on a tip-off, policemen intercepted a car yesterday and arrested the quartet with illegal weapons.

The accused are involved in selling unlicensed firearms to criminal and dacoit gangs active in Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.

The syndicate had even sold a sten gun to a Homeguard jawan in Jaipur for Rs 22,000.

All the accused hail from Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh, Mr Singh added.

Further investigations are underway, he added.
