Haryana set to procure 42 lakh MT wheat

Chandigarh, Mar 18 (UNI) Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said the state government has arranged a sum of Rs 1,837 crore for the payment of wheat to the farmers during the current Rabi procurement season.

Besides, the Government has fixed a target to procure 42 lakh Metric Tonnes (MT) of wheat.

Presiding over a meeting of the District Food and Supplies Controllers (DFSCs) here' the deputy CM directed them that all facilities be provided to the farmers during the purchase of their wheat. He said that the Government was committed to provide all facilities to the farmers in the state.

He said that efforts should be made to achieve the target of procuring of wheat so that maximum wheat could be given for the central pool. While complimenting them for procuring record wheat and paddy during the last season. He directed them that the payment to the farmers for their produce be ensured within 48 to 72 hours. For this purpose, sufficient cash credit limit had been arranged from Reserve Bank of India.

Stating that he had been getting complaints regarding the ration cards, Mr mohan said he would not tolerate this and stern action would be taken against those who were found harrasing the public. He said that the poor people should get their due and they should be apprised about all the formalities well in time so that they do not face any problem in getting their ration cards.

The deputy CM informed that with a view to provide sufficient kerosene to the consumers in the state, an innovative scheme 'Jan Kerosene Pariyojna' had been launched in the state in six blocks and the results of this scheme were very encouraging.
