Guj Assembly withdraws suspension of 6 Congress MLAs
Gandhinagar, Mar 18 (UNI) Gujarat Legislative Assembly today withdrew the suspension of six Congress MLAs after another Congress MLA Maljibhai Desai expressed unhappiness to Speaker Mangalbhai Patel on behalf of his colleagues.
On March 9, the House, had by voice vote, suspended six Congress MLAs from the rest of the budget session of the Assembly, for their ''unruly behaviour and using abusive language'' during question hour in the House.
The question was related to Government plots allotted for housing nomadic tribes being usurped by builders, following which members of both the Opposition and treasury benches traded abuses, prompting the Speaker to adjourn the House twice and subsequently move a resolution to suspend six Congress MLAs for their ''unruly behaviour.'' However, making a statement in the House at the fag end of today's second session, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ashok Bhatt informed the House about Mr Desai's meeting with the Speaker, requesting the latter to withdraw the six Congress MLAs' suspension looking at the decorum of the House. And, it was promptly honoured.
