Cong member demands refund of depositors' money
New Delhi, Mar 18 (UNI) Dr Rajesh Mishra (Cong) today alleged a scam in a savings scheme amounting to Rs 8 to 10 crore in a post office in Uttar Pradesh and urged the Government to arrange for refund of the depositors' money blocked there.
Raising the matter during zero hour in the Lok Sabha, Mr Mishra said depositors had invested money in the savings scheme in a post office in Varanasi district four years ago for which they had been duly given receipts. But the money was not deposited in the scheme.
A CBI investigation was on in the matter, he added.
About 1000 people who had invested in the scheme were finding it tough to provide proper education to their children or fulfil social duties due to their money remaining blocked in the post office, he claimed.
While the CBI investigation was confining itself to knowing who committed the fraud and how much money was involved, there was no move yet to refund the blocked savings of the depositors, Mr Mishra said and demanded adequate arrangement.
