Chargesheet filed in October 29 Paharganj blast case
New Delhi, Mar 18 (UNI) Police today filed a chargesheet in the pre-Diwali Paharganj blast case in a local court here.
Chargesheet in the other two October 29 blasts in Sarojini Nagar and Govindpuri have already been filed.
The chargesheet, filed in the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Seema Maini, named Tariq Ahmed Dar and Rafiq Shah as the main accused.
Both have been named as prime accused in the other two blast cases as well.
Mohammad Hussain Fazli, who was named in the FIR and is at present lodged in Gurgaon's Bhondsi jail, was not named in the chargesheet. He had been named in the FIR for transferring the money to the other two.
The next date of hearing is March 24, when the accused will get a copy of the chargesheet.
Delhi Police, on March 13, filed a supplementary statement of prime accused Rafiq Shah in the Govindpuri blast case.
Last week, the Delhi Police filed the chargesheet in Govindpuri case.
The statement of an eyewitness, on whose testimony the sketch of Rafiq Shah had been drawn, was recorded in the court of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate before the chargesheet was filed in the case.
On March 1, Delhi Police had moved an application before the CMM, seeking permission to record the statement of the key witness even before the chargesheet had been filed in the case.
The Delhi Police necessitated this action so that the statement had legal sanctity and the witness could be prosecuted even if he retracted his statement.
Three blasts, at Paharganj, Sarojini Nagar and Govindpuri, rocked Delhi on the eve of Diwali last year, killing more than 60 people and injuring over 200.
Four FIRs, one for each blast and one under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, have been filed in the case.
On January 21, the city police had filed a chargesheet against Tariq Ahmed Dar, Gulam Ahmed Khan, Farooq Ahmed and 39 others relating to the fourth FIR in the October 29 serial bomb blast case under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.
Special Cell of the Delhi Police charged Dar, Mohd Hussain Fazli and Rafiq Shah with murder, attempt to murder, conspiracy to wage war against the State and various provisions of Unlawful Assembly Act, holding them responsible for the Sarojini Nagar blast.
