CAB miffed, hurt, disappointed on being stripped, to protest

Kolkata, Mar 18 (UNI) The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) today recated sharply to BCCI's decision of stripping Eden Gardens as a venue for Champions' Trophy and said the Working Committee will decide whether a protest letter would be sent.

Talking to the reporters CAB Secretary Saradindu Pal said, ''Eden Gardens and the people of Bengal have fallen victim to BCCI's petty politics. The CAB working committee will meet soon and decide whether to sent a protest letetr to BCCI.'' ''We dont want to wage a war against the parent body but the fact that we have wanted only the big games is a wrong interpretation to our letter. We said that monsoon lingers till the second week of October so it will be easy for us to hold matches after October 23,'' he said.

''We never wnated specific matches,'' he said.

''Moreover, we also protested the rule that the matches would be alloted under rotation policy and those alloted this Trophy will be devoid of matches in 2007 that includes the India-Australia series.

The Champions' Trophy is a showcase event and a biennal affair. Its a one-off case and should not have any realation to the rotation policy,'' he said.

''We are extremely agrieved by the decisions and cant help thinking that a majestic stadium that hold one lakh people will not get any match. It will also tell on BCCI coffers,'' he said.

The BCCI has also decioded to sent a congratulation to Skipper Rahul Dravid on completing 100 Tests and for his selfless contribution to the game in the country.
