'BJP yet to receive letter from UPA on Telangana issue'

Hyderabad, Mar 18: Claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had not received any letter from the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) on the issue of statehood for Telangana, BJP National President Rajnath Singh today announced that his party was in favour of Telangana.

Addressing a press conference here, he alleged that the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) who ''promised'' Statehood for Telangana, had betrayed the people's mandate after c oming to power.

Mr Singh said the BJP National Executive in may would decide its next course of action, in this regard.

Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee, and Chairman of the UPA sub-committee on Telangana, had earlier claimed that he had written twice to the BJP, but was unable to finalise his report for want of response from the party.
