BJP castigates UPA for "failure on all fronts"

Hyderabad, Mar 18 (UNI) Alleging that 22-month UPA regime was marked by ''failures on all fronts'' including inability to curb terrorism, BJP President Rajnath Singh today claimed that Hyderabad had turned into a hub for terrorists, who were striking at will in different parts of the country.

Talking to newspersons here he said the UPA Government had proved that it was ''incapable'' of protecting not not only cultural centres like Varanasi and Ayodhya, ''but also the political centre of Delhi, the economic centre of Mumbai and the intellectual centre of Bangalore from terrorist attacks.'' Attributing the repeal of the Prevention of Terrorism Act(POTA) by the UPA to the sorry state of affairs, he alleged that terrorists operating in various places other than Jammu and Kashmir, had their links with Hyderabad.

Charging the UPA Government with misusing high constitutional offices for ''partisan politics,'' he referred to the role of Governors in Goa, Jharkand and Bihar and said even the Supreme Court had held as ''unconstitutional'' the acts of the then Bihar Governor.

The Manmohan Singh Government had allegedly misused the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) in defreezing the London-based accounts of the main accused in the Bofors case, he alleged.

the BJP president also claimed that the UPA Government had put on hold hike in the prices of petroleum products as recommended by the Rangarajan Committee, in view of the coming assembly elections in some states.

A hefty hike was sure to hit the common man again, sooner or later,'' he said.

In furtherance of its policies of appeasement of minorities for vote bank politics, the Congress was dividing the country on religious lines by announcing five per cent reservation for Muslims in Andhra Pradesh and by going in for headcount even in the armed forces, he charged.
