Bhopal tragedy: Indefinite hunger-strike in Delhi

Mathura (UP), Mar 18: Four organisations seeking the redressal of grievances associated with the Bhopal gas tragedy have planned an indefinite hunger-strike at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi from March 29.

These bodies will also call upon the Prime Minister and hand over a six-point memorandum.

A 'padyatra' by its 49 members from Bhopal to the national capital is already underway. The 'padyatra', that started on February 20, reached Mathura today.

Later addressing a joint news conference, Bhopal Group for Information and Action president Rachna Dhingra informed they would reach the national capital on March 25.

''If our demands are not met by March 29, 15 of our members will sit on the hunger-strike,'' she maintained.

She also demanded constitution of a National Commission on Bhopal Gas Tragedy for the social and economic rehabilitation of the victims.
