36,221 beneficiaries covered under various schemes in Jammu

Jammu, Mar 18 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Social Welfare Haji Nissar Ali was informed today that 36,221 beneficiaries stand covered under various social welfare schemes, and Rs 3.37 crore has been distributed in the current financial year in the district.

The Minister inspected various units of his department, taking stock of the working of social welfare offices in the Jammu district.

While inspecting the Tehsil office, he was informed that under the Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS), 15,934 beneficiaries have been covered in the Jammu Tehsil involving Rs 3.20 crore and 1,631 beneficiaries were provided Rs 16.08 lakh under National Organisation of Alternative Programs (NOAP) during the current financial year.

While checking records of these offices, the Minister gave instructions to computerise all the records alongwith the particulars of beneficiaries to check irregularities. He also inspected residential homes for the blind at Janipore, taking stock of facilities being provided to the inmates.
