UP steps up efforts to nab killer Parihar gang

Lucknow, Mar 17 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh police in association with their counterparts from Madhya Pradesh have embarked on an extensive combing operation in the Etawah district and adjoining areas for nabbing the Jagjiwan Parihar gang, which killed three people and abducted three others on Wednesday night.

Principal Secretary (Home) Alok Sinha said here yesterday that ADG (Crime) R K Tiwari has been rushed to the affected district to take stock of the situation.

Meanwhile, DIG (Kanpur Range) Daljit Singh Chaudhary said that state police in association with counterparts from neighbouring MP were combing the entire area and PAC personnel have been deployed in the four affected villages.

The police were also conducting raids at prospective hideouts of the dacoits, he added.

The dreaded gang led by its kingpin Jagjivan Parihar had shot dead two people and killed another by throwing him in Holi bonfire in three villages of Etawah district. The dacoits had also abducted three other villagers from another village of the same district.
