Twister destroys 250 houses in Bengal

Cooch Behar, Mar 16 (UNI) At least 250 houses were destroyed in a twister that hit Cooch Behar and Toofanganj subdivision in West Bengal today.

The storm at a speed over 100 kms per hour hit this border district about 0700 hrs and lasted nearly one hour uprooted many electric and telephone poles disrputing telecomunication and power supply.

However, there had been no report of any casualty so far.

District Magistrate of Cooch Behar Ravindor Singh instructed the BDO and SDO to submit a report mentioning the extent of loss.
