Suggestions invited on improving MPLAD scheme
New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) The Parliamentary Committee on the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) of the Lok Sabha has invited suggestions of the people on improving the working and implementation of the scheme in order to acheive its objectives.
The Committee,headed by Prasanna Acharya, MP has decided to elicit the views of the public and experts, professionals, academicians, and NGOs in regard to the perception, the benefits realised, achievements, deficiencies in the implementation of the scheme and expectations from it, according to an official release.
Comments have also been invited on the extent of fulfillment of local needs and the role of MPLADS in it, the release added.
The MPLADS is fully funded by the Government of India and enables MPs to recommend works amounting to Rs 2 crore per year of development nature.
