Shooting heard outside Spanish Supreme Court
MADRID, Mar 17 (Reuters) A man fired four or five shots outside the Spanish Supreme Court on Friday and was detained after apparently trying to force his way into the building, state radio reported.
''We heard various shots -- at least four or five -- and we all threw ourselves to the ground. There was a commotion and they closed the doors of the court,'' a spokeswoman at the court told Reuters.
Police confirmed there had been a shooting incident and one person had been arrested. Police said they would give more details later.
Private radio station Cadena Ser said the man was a security guard and had a pistol that fired blanks.
The court spokeswoman said she had heard no shouting before the shooting and that staff had been asked to stay in their offices.
