Salman granted bail in Chinkara poaching case
Jodhpur, Mar 17 (UNI) A local court here today granted bail to actor Salman Khan in the infamous Chinkara poaching case.
Salman appeared in the court himself and was granted bail on a surety of Rs 50,000 and a bond for as much amount.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Brijendra Kumar Jain had awarded Salman one year sentence and penalty of Rs 5000 on February 17 giving a month's time to appeal. Today was the last day for the actor to file an appeal.
Charged with the poaching of two Chinkaras in Bhavad village on September 26 and 27, 1998, Salman and seven others including actor Satish Shah were put on trial. However, only the actor was convicted and the rest acquitted on benefit of doubt.
Salman had appealed against the decision at the district and Sessions Court on March 9.
