RBI to issue new Rs 50 denomination banknotes
Chandigarh, Mar 16 (UNI) Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will shortly issue Rs 50 denomination banknotes with inset letter ''E'' in both numbering panels in Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005 bearing the signature of its Governor Dr Y V Reddy.
S S Bedi, Deputy General Manager, RBI, Chandigarh in a press release today stated that except for the change in inset letter, the design of these new notes will be similar in all respects to the banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi Series with additional or new security features issued earlier.
All banknotes in the denomination of Rs 50 issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender, he added.
