Raids on premises of outdoor caterers, pandal contractors

Bhopal, Mar 17 (UNI) The Customs and Central Excise department today raided premises of eight big concerns providing outdoor catering and 'pandal and shamiyana' services.

A team led by Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax Commissioner Narayan Basu raided the premises on information that the concerns were evading huge amount of service tax, an official release said here today.

Tax evasion to the tune of several lakhs came to light during the raid. Some concerns paid service tax liability immediately, the release said.
