President spends time with visually challenged people
New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam visited the Tactile Garden of Rashtrapati Bhavan and spent time with number of visually challenged people and school children who visited the garden today.
Dr Kalam also gave some plant saplings to the children and went around the garden with them, an official statement said.
The special visitors were also given an audio presentation about the Tactile Garden.
The Mughal gardens and Herbal gardens at Rashtrapati Bhavan had been exclusively opened for physically and visually challenged people, defence and para-military personnel and farmers from March 16 to 19.
The gardens opened for physically challenged people on March 16, for visually challenged people today, for defence and para-military personnel on March 18 and for farmers on March 19, it was announced.
Entry to the gardens would be through Gate no 35 of President's Estate, which was located at the extreme end of Church Road, about 300 m West of Cathedral Church.
Entry for physically challenged people using wheelchairs would be through the Rashtrapati Bhavan reception.
Schools for special children could organise visit for their students by making an appointment two days in advance.
