PC presents Performance Budget, Outcome Budget for FINMIN

New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) Finance Minister P Chidambaram today presented in Parliament 'The Outcome Budget 2006-07' and 'Performance Budget 2005-06' relating to the Ministry of Finance.

The two documents pertain to four Departments of the Ministry-- (a) Department of Economic Affairs (2) Department of Expenditure (3) Department of Revenue and (4) Department of Disinvestment.

With a view to enhancing the efficiency of the delivery mechanism, the Budget 2005-06 introduced a methodology to measure the development outcomes of all major programmes and the 'Outcome Budget 2005-06' was presented to Parliament on August 25,2005. It was a consolidated document reflecting the Plan expenditure of all Ministries and Departments for the year 2005-06.

'Outcome Budget 2006-07' introduces a further refinement bringing some items of expenditure into focus where certain deliverable outputs are envisaged.

Mr Chidambaram presented the first Performance Budget 2005-06. It shows the achievements highlighting the performance of schemes and programmes till the third quarter of 2005-06.
